Discovering new people is a blast: every morning Katriin comes, fills her cup with hot steaming coffee and opens her mailbox full of fresh CVs and applications. We read them through, argue, analyze, argue some more and finally decide to call some of you to our penthouse office for a discussion on job, dreams, life and technology. And if at the end of the day we click, you might find yourself behind a shiny new desk the next day. Sounds easy? Believe me, it's not.
The first obstacle is the CV/application. It might be surprising, but we still receive a lot of poorly written, outdated or hastily composed letters. It is the first impression we get of you and it could sadly be our last if you don't take time to make your letter stand out. Clean up your CV from clutter and bloat like we do with our old code. If you're a designer, your CV could use a flair of Helvetica or perhaps Trade Gothic? Do attach your portfolio of your previous works and experiments. You could write a few lines about why is Fraktal the right place for you, or why Edicy pushes the right buttons in your head.
And if you've already blown our minds with your application letter and land in our cozy interrogation room (no one-way mirrors and handcuffs, don't worry), be prepared for a chat that could be about anything. It's not an rigid interview with pre-set structure but rather a insight on our work and your job and desires.
We might want to know why you prefer a startup like us over a established company like Yahoo or Microsoft. You could tell us about the usability problems with some of your favourite (web) applications. It helps if you've read our blog. Or any other blog in the industry. Maybe you want to demonstrate a cool piece of code you wrote to get your refrigerator fetch mail for you? Edicy is a team effort and therefore we love people who don't merely fill tasks for high office but think forward and beyond.
